## Two AI Study Apps, Different Philosophies

Raena AI and Butterfast both turn your study materials into quizzes, flashcards, and more using AI. But they take very different approaches.

**Raena** focuses on **social features and viral content** — study groups, leaderboards, voice tutors, and TikTok-style "brainrot" videos.

**Butterfast** focuses on **evidence-based study science** — spaced repetition, active recall, and gamification that builds consistent study habits.

Which one is right for you? Let's break it down.

## Where Butterfast Wins

### 1. Real Spaced Repetition

Butterfast is the **only AI study tool** with true SRS scheduling. Flashcards automatically schedule reviews based on your performance — just like Anki, but with AI-generated cards.

Raena generates flashcards but has no scheduling system. You review them manually with no optimization.

### 2. Audio Source Processing

Butterfast can process lecture recordings using OpenAI Whisper. Upload an MP3 of your lecture and get study materials automatically. Raena doesn't support audio files at all.

### 3. Deeper Gamification

Both apps have gamification, but they're very different:

- **Butterfast**: 20-level progression, daily streaks, performance-based XP bonuses
- **Raena**: RP points + leaderboard (shallower system)

Butterfast's system rewards _how well_ you study (quiz score bonuses), not just _how much_.

## Where Raena Wins

### 1. Social Features

Raena has study groups, friend lists, group chat, and leaderboards. Butterfast is currently a solo experience.

### 2. More Source Types

Raena supports images, web URLs, DOCX, PPTX, and XLSX — more input variety than Butterfast.

### 3. Voice AI Tutor

Raena's AI tutor has a customizable persona and voice mode — you can literally talk to it. Butterfast's AI chat is text-only.

### 4. Brainrot Mode

Love it or hate it, Raena's TikTok-style study videos are unique and viral.
